Synopsis[edit]
- "Homer gets roped into coaching the kids' lacrosse team with Milhouse's dad, Kirk, who is in desperate need of a friend. When Kirk gets too clingy, Homer vents about how much of a loser he is. Kirk overhears his rant and disappears right when the team needs him most, before the championship game."
Plot[edit]
In early September, at the start of the pee-wee Football season, during the opening game, the field fills with too much smoke, and the kids start bumping into each other, resulting in several of them being taken to the hospital for concussions.
Afterward, the people of the town reunite at the Town Hall to discuss a less violent sport for the kids. Everyone starts proposing ideas, but Kirk has trouble getting anyone to listen to him. Marge sends Homer to help, and he encourages Kirk to speak up. Kirk suggests lacrosse. The townspeople ask him to coach the kids, and he agrees only if Homer becomes his vice-coach.
At the first match, the team wins, and Homer asks how Kirk pulled it off. Kirk shares how he was a star player on his college lacrosse team but broke his wrist while high-fiving the mascot—a guy in armor. The next day, the team prepares for a tournament in another town, and during the trip, Homer starts to feel that he and Kirk are getting too close.
After a match, Kirk tries to take Homer to a strip club. Homer wants to tell him he doesn't want to hang out anymore, but for the sake of the kids' happiness, he holds back and just goes to sleep.
Back home, Homer and Kirk sing about their friendship separately. But as Homer begins ranting about how he's been faking it, Kirk overhears and quits the team just two hours before the final game.
The kids are close to forfeiting due to the absence of their coach, so Homer is sent to the strip club to find Kirk. He gets distracted by chicken wings and cuts it close, but overhears two strippers talking about rice burgers—the food Kirk brought on the trip—and finds him in the Champagne Room. Homer convinces Kirk to return, and with the help of some strippers, they escape the club.
The kids win the final match and become champions. At the end, Homer and Kirk high-five, break each other's wrists, and—much to Homer's dismay—end up sharing a hospital room.
During the credits, a video of Kirk teaching people how to make a rice sandwich is shown on MyTube.
Production[edit]
This was the last episode in the series to be produced by Film Roman.
